Dr. Jacob Milner

As a dentist near Garrison, Dr. Milner loves nothing more than being able to provide patients with a stress-free dental visit. Making the experience fun and enjoyable, he regularly receives positive reviews and is one of the reasons why Dolfield Dental has such a strong reputation.

Although his decision to become a dentist was not because of some lifelong pursuit from an early age, he did have a family friend who became a dental mentor, encouraging Dr. Milner to enter the field. After shadowing various dental offices, he decided it was the perfect career path.

While at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry earning his dental degree, he completed an externship at Kernan Hospital at the University of Maryland. There, his focus was on pediatric dentistry. He then went on to work with geriatric patients at Levindale Hospital before spending six years as an associated dentist.

Undergoing many different trainings throughout his career, he has developed skills and experience in dental sleep medicine and sleep apnea treatment. He has also earned fellowship with Implant Pathway and is a certified provider for Invisalign.

Outside the dental office, you’ll often find Dr. Milner with his wife and their four children – Judah, Kyra, Maya, and Zachy. He enjoys watching and playing sports of all kinds but especially enjoys cheering for the Redskins, Orioles, Capitals, Wizards, and Terps.

FAQs

How do I find the best place to get dental work done?

Although the American Dental Association recommends visiting your provider every six months for a routine checkup and cleaning, only an estimated 40% of adults have had an appointment in the past year. If it’s been a while since your last checkup, you might have questions about how to find the right dentist to meet your unique needs.

If you’re unsure how to get started, it might help first to identify the traits and qualities most important to you. For instance, are you looking for a family dentist or someone in-network with your insurance provider? Do you need someone skilled with specific cosmetic or restorative services? Once you have answered these questions for yourself, an internet search on your chosen browser can usually provide a helpful list of results.

How much does it cost to get a tooth pulled without insurance near Garrison?

If you have an overly decayed or damaged tooth causing problems, you may need to consider extracting and replacing it. It’s natural to worry that removing a problematic tooth is overly expensive, but that’s not always the case. When provided by a qualified professional near Garrison, this procedure can range anywhere from $75 to $800 or more, depending on your individual circumstances.

For example, molars might cost more to extract because they’re harder to access and have more roots. You might also pay more if you opt for sedation or are having multiple teeth treated at the same time.

What level of education is required to be a dentist?

If you’re on the market for a new dentist and aren’t sure what qualifications to look for, we’ve got your back! It takes years of dedicated study and training to become licensed to practice. Once they’ve earned a bachelor’s degree, providers must achieve either a Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS) or a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from one of more than 70 schools accredited by the American Dental Association. Typically, their rigorous education includes classroom learning combined with hands-on experiences through residencies. Then, dentists can choose to focus on a specialty topic like dental implants, oral surgery, periodontics, or endodontics.

At our office, Dr. Milner earned his dental degree at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and has completed advanced training in dental sleep medicine, implants, and cosmetics like Invisalign.

What is the best way to find a dentist near Garrison who does dental implants?

Many experts consider dental implants the gold standard of replacement teeth because they offer unique advantages over alternatives like dental bridges and dentures. However, they’re also the only restorations that require oral surgery, so it’s essential to find a skilled practitioner for a successful procedure.

Often, patients turn to specialists, such as a periodontist, oral surgeon, or prosthodontist, to place their dental implants. That said, many general dentists complete specialized training and certification programs so they can also offer dental implants. For instance, Dr. Milner has earned a fellowship status with the Implant Pathway, a program dedicated to training on this topic.
